CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball student-athlete Ali Mann has been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, it was announced Friday (March 17). Mann was named to the team for the second consecutive year.
The Academic All-MAC Team is the result of voting by the league's Faculty Athletic Representatives, from among a list of candidates with at least sophomore status and a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
Mann, a junior, was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Third Team last month. She maintains a 3.39 cumulative grade point average as an accounting major.
On the court, Mann leads the Falcons in both scoring and rebounding, with averages of 14.6 points and 7.6 boards per game. The Chelsea, Mich., native was the Falcons' first All-MAC First-Team selection in six years, then was named the Kraft MAC Tournament's Most Valuable Player after averaging a double-double (13.3 ppg, 10.3 rpg) in last week's three league tourney wins.
The Falcons, 28-2 overall and winners of 19 consecutive games, won the MAC's regular-season and tournament titles for the second-straight year. Bowling Green is in West Lafayette, Ind., to face UCLA in Sunday's (March 19) first round of the NCAA Championships. That game will begin at approximately 2:30 p.m. EST, and will be televised by ESPN and ESPNU.
Mann, the Falcons' lone selection to the Academic All-MAC Team, was joined by Akron's Jessie Crooks, Kelsey Corbin of Ball State, Erin Kuhl and Casey Manning of Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan's Sarah VanMetre, Lindsay Shearer of Kent State, Miami's Amber Miller, Jennifer Uptmor of Northern Illinois and Western Michigan's Carrie Moore.
