Scouting the Wolverines
The Michigan Wolverines (10-7) are coming off a four-game sweep over Oakland this past weekend. Michigan's lineup is full of pop with 11 homeruns and a .292 team batting average this season. Mike Schmidt bats .393 with three homeruns and 12 RBI. Bowling Green trails in the all-time series 12-37, including a heart-breaking 3-4 loss last season. The Falcons last win over Michigan came in 2000, a 9-5 victory in Ann Arbor.
A Look Ahead at Heidelberg
Heidelberg brings a 10-5 record into Bowling Green on Wednesday, March 29, including a 6-3 road record. Bowling Green handed "the Berg" a 14-4 defeat in their last visit to Warren Steller Field in 2005. Junior Josh Stewart went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in last season's contest.
Tony Pawlowicz and A.J. Schlea have started all 15 games for "the Berg" with five homeruns apiece with 17 and 21 RBI, respectively.
Stewart Does It All
Junior Josh Stewart owns a .319 average and a team-leading .444 slugging percentage with a homerun and eight RBI. He also went on an 11-game hitting streak from March 1st-18th. Stewart's speed is evident by his six stolen bases in six attempts. The Dayton, Ohio native excels defensively as well, compiling a .981 fielding percentage despite splitting time between catcher and left field (seven starts at catcher, nine in left field).
Tough Luck
Falcon ace Junior Alan Brech has yet to record a decision despite five starts and an ERA of 2.16. The lefty has allowed no more than two runs in a game all season. Brech has also lasted at least 5.0 innings in four of his five starts.
