CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team has moved up to 22nd in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll, it was announced Tuesday afternoon (March 7). The Falcons jump two spots after spending last week in 24th place and each of the prior two weeks in the 25th spot.
This marks the second time in school history that the Falcons have been ranked in a poll in four consecutive weeks. The Brown and Orange appeared in the Associated Press poll during each of the last four weeks of the 1992-93 season.
In the USA Today poll, the Falcons appeared in three-straight weeks in March of 1993, peaking at #20. The team's lone poll appearance in March, 1994, saw the Falcons ranked 24th.
This week's ranking marks only the 11th week in MAC history that a league institution has been listed in the USA Today poll, and BGSU has been the team in eight of those 11 weeks.
The Falcons, 25-2 overall, finished with a perfect 16-0 record in MAC regular-season play. BGSU opens action in the Kraft MAC Tournament with Wednesday's (March 8) quarterfinal game vs. Northern Illinois University. That contest will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
