Romer's 79th Ties Record in Falcons 7-0 Win

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - In the first and last match at Keefe Court on the campus of Bowling Green State University the Falcons (14-9, 3-5) picked up their third win in Mid-American Conference play while senior Heidi Romer's No. 3 win over Northern Illinois' (4-17, 0-7) Megan Brooks tied the co-captain atop the BGSU record books with 79 career singles wins.

Kelsey Jakupcin's win also propelled her into the record books. With the victory at the No. 5 singles slot, the young Jakupcin joins sister Ashley Jakupcin at the number five slot on the single season singles wins list with 23 overall.

The Falcons entered the singles sets with a 2-0 lead due to an insufficient number of Huskies. NIU was forced to forfeit not only the No. 6 singles flight, but also the third doubles match. BGSU's No. 1 combination of Jenna Nussbaum and Romer solidified the doubles point with their win. The No. 2 duo of Kelsey Jakupcin and Andrea Meister fell after staging a comeback to NIU's Dora Delgadillo and Megan Brooks.

The Orange and Brown proceeded to take the next five flights to solidify the win.

The Falcons also bid farewell to co-captains Andrea Meister and Romer. The two combined for 64 wins this season and 245 career victories.

Next up for the Orange and Brown will be the MAC Championships in Oxford, April 27-30. Parings for the tournament will be announced next week.
