Men's Golf Signs Two

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University men's golf head coach Garry Winger has announced the signing of Scott Blackburn (West Lake, Ohio) and Andrew Ladwig (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) to National Letters of Intent for the fall of 2006. Blackburn and Ladwig will join John Powers (Bowling Green, Ohio) and Matt Schnieder (Grand Rapids, Minn.), who signed back in November.
Blackburn, a native of Westlake, Ohio, was the 2004 champion of the Ohio Junior Worlds, held at the NCR Country Club, in Dayton, Ohio. That win also qualified him for the Callaway Junior Worlds. He placed 11th at the PGA Junior series at Penn State and was ranked fifth in the Ohio class by Golf Week Titleist. A two-sport athlete, who was a four-time all-conference member and three-time all-district honor, also earned all-state special mention in basketball.
Ladwig, a native of East Grand Rapids, Mich., earned all-state honors in 2003 and 2004. He was also the champion at the 2004 Michigan Junior Stroke Play. This past season he finished second at the 2005 AJGA Fidelity Shootout at Rich Harvest Farms. He was also a 2005 MHSAA Dream Team member.

Powers, the son of former BGSU hockey coach Buddy Powers, finished 15th at the United States Junior Amateur Championships, shooting a 140 (66-74). He finished the year ranked the #2 junior golfer in Ohio. His other accomplishments included a fourth-place finish at the Ohio Junior Championships as well as a ninth-place finish at the AJGA Fidelity Investments Junior Classic.
Schneider earned medalist at the PGA Junior Section Championships with a 143 (71-72). He finished the year as the #2 ranked junior golfer in Minnesota. Schneider also finished 28th at the Westfield PGA National Championships and was runner-up at the Sioux City Regional Juniors.
