Bring On the Rockets
Interstate 75 rival, the Toledo Rockets (3-10) come into town to kick off conference play Friday night. Bowling Green will also welcome Ball State to Anderson Arena this weekend, a 4 PM Saturday showdown. The Falcons will attempt to start a new streak against the Cardinals because it had been 13 years since the Falcons defeated Ball State until last season's 3-0 sweep of the Cardinals. Head Coach Denise Van De Walle's win over her alma mater snapped a 24-match losing streak to BSU.
Making National Noise
The Falcons are ranked in three national team categories and have emerged as the hottest team in the MAC with six straight wins and two tournament titles entering the first week of conference play. The Falcons are ranked 14th in assists per game (647 assists, 15.40 a/g), 20th in hitting percentage (.280 on 1,661 attempts) and 14th in kills per game (704 kills, 16.76 k/g).
Offensive Juggernaut
Falcon fans can find BGSU at the top of the MAC rankings in every offensive category. The Brown and Orange own the highest hitting percentage (.280) in the conference, a whopping .28 points higher than the next best. Bowling Green's 16.76 kills and 15.40 assists per game averages slot them in the top spot as well.
Stingy Defense
The Falcons are excelling defensively as well in their first twevle matches of the `06 campaign. Junior Stephanie Swiger's 1.39 blocks per game are the most in the MAC, aiding BGSU to the second most team blocks in the conference. Bowling Green ranks second in digs (18.07/game) as well.
