The Bowling Green State University women's golf team finished sixth at the Laker Fall Classic in Allendale, Michigan. The Falcons, who shot a two-round score of 646, finished just 10 strokes back from finishing in the top three, among the 19-team field.
The top Falcon finisher was junior Jessica McCann. After firing an opening round 79, she matched her career-best of 75, set last year at the MAC Championships, placing her in a tie for sixth. For the tournament McCann was second among the 117 golfers in par-4 average with a 4.25.
Not far behind McCann was classmate Lindsey Jonkhoff. She followed up her opening 79 with a 77 to close the tournament, just one stroke off her career-best. She finished the two-day event in a tie for 10th. Also of note, Jonkhoff led all 117 golfers in par-3 average with a 2.88 (-1).
Fellow junior Amanda Bader, who was tied with McCann and Jonkhoff for Falcon honors following round one, shot an 81 on day two, placing her in a T-26th.
Also seeing action was freshman Megan Gormley (87-89) and senior Kari Liggett (90-90).
Up next for the Falcons is a pair of tournaments in a span of four days. BGSU will travel to Muncie, Ind. For the Cardinal Classic on Sept. 9-10 and then move back in-State for the Taco Bell Ladies Golf Invitational in Youngstown, Ohio, on Sept. 11-12.
