Akron now leads the series 23-15.
Both teams scored 40 points in the paint.
Senior Martin Samarco had 20 points and six rebounds. It was his 20th 20-point or better effort of his career.
Sophomore Nate Miller had 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals. He has scored in double figures in his last three games and four of his last five. He also has averaged 3.3 steals in the last three games. In MAC play, he is averaging 15.0 point and 5.7 rebounds.
Sophomore Erik Marschall had nine points in his first start since be broke his foot on December 4. He made four of five field goal attempts and is shooting 58.3% from the floor this season.
Sophomore Darryl Clements scored for the first time since the Marshall game. He had six points and made three of five shots.
Junior Ryne Hamblet had four points, four boards and three steals and a career-high 10 assists. He had nine of those in the first half.
Freshman Ryan Sims had four points, two assists and two offensive rebounds off the bench.
Freshman Otis Polk had a basket and blocked shot and is eighth in the MAC with 12 blocked shots.
