BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Junior middle blocker Kendra Halm, native of Bucyrus, Ohio was named the MAC East Player of the Week after leading the Falcons to three wins sweeping IPFW (Oct. 2), Akron, (Oct. 6), and Buffalo (Oct. 7).
Halm's week started in BG's win over IPFW with 11 kills and only one error in 20 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, also adding five blocks. Halm and the Falcons moved on to Akron where she totaled an even better efficiency with 11 kills and only one error in 17 attempts hitting a .588, also adding three blocks in the win over the Zips. To top off a great week of play Halm put up even better numbers to lead the Falcons in their win over the Bulls. Halm had an errorless match with 13 kills in 16 attempts hitting an incredible .812 and had two blocks. Halm was just short of breaking the BGSU record for hitting percentage in a match (BGSU record is .867 with 13-0-15). For the week, Halm totaled 35 kills with only two errors in 53 attempts hitting an exceptional .623 and averaging 3.89 kills per game, also recording 10 blocks, three digs, one assist, and 40.5 points.
This is Halm's second time begin named MAC East Player of the Week as she was named once her freshman year (Oct. 17, 2005). Halm was named to the first team All-MAC and to the Academic All-MAC team as well as receiving BGSU honors being named Co-Offensive Player of the Year last season. Halm led the MAC in blocks per game last year and set a MAC Tournament record with 12 blocks against Toledo in the Falcons semi-final win. In 2005, as a freshman Halm was named to the All-MAC Freshman squad and received BGSU honors as the Offensive Player of the Year.
