"We are excited to have three players make the all-MAC team," said head coach Fred Thompson. "It shows we are moving in the right direction with the development of the program and our players are starting to make an impact in the conference again."
"The three are all very deserving players. Abi's award shows the improvement he has made on his game and the leadership skills he has developed throughout his career. I am also happy to see him get the recognition. As for Cameron and Thomas, I am proud to see them both earn the award this season and have to ability to earn it again in the coming years."
The trio is the largest group since the turn of the millennium to be given the distinction and is also the first group of players to earn the award under Thompson; once in each of the last two seasons a single Falcon was named All-MAC.
McLean, the youngest of the group, is the first Falcon freshman to earn a place on an All-MAC team since Jason Began and Chris Dore earned the award in their rookie seasons. Began went on to become the only Falcon to earn All-MAC status every year he was with the team (1994-1997), while Dore (96, 98-99) was one of three players to earn the award on three separate occasions.
The Falcons were eliminated from the conference post season tournament on Tuesday (Nov. 13) as the Northern Illinois Huskies beat BGSU 3-0 in the quarterfinal match. Bowling Green finished the season in fourth place with a league record of 2-2-1 and an overall record of 6-10-3.
