CLEVELAND, Ohio - For the second time this season, Bowling Green State University sophomore P.J. Mahone has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week after recording 10 tackles and two interceptions in a 37-10 win over Toledo last Friday night.
The defensive back intercepted two passes in the fourth quarter, the third time he has picked off two passes in a game this season. As mentioned before the Elyria, Ohio native chipped in with 10 tackles and had one pass break up.
On the year Mahone has seven interceptions, which is third all-time in school history, and is currently tied for the MAC lead with Akron's Reggie Corner. In those seven INTs he has five returns of over 30 yards, and has 220 total return yards, which is the best-ever in school history. The previous-best was 207 yards by Max Minnich back in 1948.
Mahone's other two contests with multiple picks were Western Kentucky and Akron.
Mahone is currently fourth on the team with 80 tackles. He also has three pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
