Swimming and Diving Falcons Set to Compete in OSU Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Swim and Dive team will travel to Columbus this upcoming weekend to compete in the Ohio State Invitational. The meet will consist of eleven women's swimming and diving teams from 7 different conferences.
Head Coach Keri Buff's swimmers will challenge Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Utah, Denver, Illinois and host Ohio State in the pool. The Falcon divers will contend against Alabama, Arizona State, Denver, Iowa, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Purdue, Ohio State, and Utah.
The Invitational will be set much like the NCAA Championships, with preliminaries in the morning and the finals of those events held in the evening. The contest is scheduled to begin Friday Nov. 30 at 11:00 a.m. with swimming preliminaries. The meet will conclude on Sunday Dec. 2 with the Diving finals at noon and the last swimming finals starting at 3:00 p.m.
Scouting the Swimming Competition:
University of Iowa Hawkeyes: The Hawkeyes sport a 1-4 record with their win coming against Michigan State. There losses have been to Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Nevada-Reno.
Michigan State University Spartans: Michigan State has victories against Illinois and St. Bonaventure and sport a 2-4 record.
Ohio State University Buckeyes: OSU placed first in the Washington Invitational during the first week in November. Most recently they have dropped duel meets against Washington and #15 Southern California.
University of Minnesota Gophers: After losing their first meet of the year to Florida, Minnesota has won duel meets with Iowa and Notre Dame.
University of Utah Utes: Utah took first place in a tri-meet featuring the Utes along with Boise State and San Diego State. They have one additional win against New Mexico. Their losses have come against Arkansas, Denver and UNLV.
University of Denver Pioneers: After placing first in the Air Force Invitational, the Pioneers beat Utah in duel-meet action. There four losses have been to Arkansas, Colorado State, Wyoming and Pacific.
University of Illinois Fighting-Illini: Illinois placed second in the Mizzou Dual Challenge and beat Illinois State. Their losses have been to Michigan State and Nebraska.
Falcon Notes
Sophomore Meg Richardson won her first individual race of the year against Miami as she set a personal best in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.37...Junior Alisha Yee picked up three top times in the 100 and 200 back and the 200 IM the last time the Falcons took the water... Yee now leads the team with thirteen first place finishes for the season...Sophomore Frankie Houck won the 50 and 100 free against the RedHawks as well...Junior Diver Ashley Belrose leads the diving falcons with two top finishes...The Falcons will be a part of the Ohio State Invitational for the second consecutive year.
