Kendra Halm Named MAC East Player of the Week For the Third Time

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Junior middle blocker Kendra Halm, Bucyrus, Ohio native was named MAC East Player of the Week (Nov. 5) for the third time this season. Halm is only the third player in BGSU volleyball history to be named MAC Player of the Week three times in one season. Halm, first team All-MAC last year, led the Falcons once again this weekend as they went 1-1 with a win over Kent State (3-2) and lost to #16 Ohio (0-3).
Halm and the Falcons started the weekend off with a 3-2 victory over Kent State. Halm led the Falcons and tied her career high with 22 kills hitting a .356 and collected five blocks in the win over the Golden Flashes. Despite a loss to #16 Ohio Halm led the Falcons with 19 kills and only two errors hitting a .586 and put up three blocks at the net on defense against the Bobcats. For the weekend Halm totaled 41 kills averaging 5.12 kills per game with a .446 hitting percentage. Halm recorded eight blocks averaging 1.00 block per game. Halm also had five digs, one assist, and 46.0 points for the weekend.
Halm leads the Falcons with 127 blocks this season averaging 1.22 blocks per game. She set a new BGSU record for block assists in a four game match against Central Michigan (10/12/07) with 11 block assists. Halm has recorded 19 double digit kill performances with three 20 plus kill matches this season thus far.
This is Halm's third time this season and fourth in her career being named MAC East Player of the Week as she was named MAC East Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks in October (Oct. 8 & 15) and once her freshman year (Oct. 17, 2005).
Halm was named first team All-MAC and to the Academic All-MAC team as well as receiving BGSU honors being named Co-Offensive Player of the Year last season in her sophomore campaign. Halm led the MAC in blocks per game last year as a sophomore, setting a MAC Tournament record with 12 blocks against Toledo in the Falcons semi-final win. In 2005, as a freshman Halm was named to the All-MAC Freshman squad and received BGSU honors as the Offensive Player of the Year.
