Three Falcons Named To Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Three Bowling Green State University football players were named to the Academic All-MAC squad this afternoon (Dec. 11), announced by the league office. Kevin Huelsman, Kory Lichtensteiger and Drew Nystrom, all fifth-year seniors, and starters on the offensive line, were named to the All-MAC squad.
Huelsman, a native of St. Henry, Ohio, has started 24 contests for the Falcons, fifth-highest on the team. He has helped the Falcon offense to rank third in scoring (32.1), first in pass offense (286.8), first in first downs (286), third in pass efficiency (135.1), third in third down conversions (42.2) and 10th in rushing (130.1). Huelsman maintains a 3.81 grade-point average while majoring in management information systems.
The awards keep coming for Lichtensteiger. Not only was he named to the Academic All-MAC squad for the second consecutive year, he has also been a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, given to the nation's top center, a four-time All-MAC performer (first-team in 2006 & 2007) a Draddy semifinalist and was a member of the Lombardi Watch List. The Van Wert, Ohio, native maintains a 3.57 GPA while majoring in criminal justice.
Nystrom, a native of Crystal Lake, Ill., was named to the Academic All-MAC squad for the first time in his career. He was named second-team All-MAC this season after leading the Falcons to one of the best offenses in the league, averaging 32.1 points and 286.8 yards passing a game. Nystrom owns a 3.73 GPA while majoring in biology.
