BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -
BGSU HEAD COACH Curt Miller
"I am ecstatic with that win. I have so much respect for the Ball State program. They are such a talented team, and they are so dangerous, with so many weapons out there. I thought we were really efficient all night. We had a good night offensively, shot a high percentage, and played very smart basketball for the first 37 minutes of the game. I can't be happier than I am right now. That is a huge win."
(On Amber Flynn)
"She was the difference. She was the X factor tonight, as she is a lot of the time. Ball State's posts got in foul trouble, but I thought their four-guard lineup outplayed our lineup in the first half. We talked about that at halftime, after they clearly won that matchup in the first half. But, Amber Flynn was very productive. She got loose and got a lot of points down low. She was the presence inside that we desperately needed tonight."
BGSU SENIOR Amber Flynn
"I knew this was a big game, and I had to bring my A-game ... My main goal, going into every game, is to be a spark for my team. Whether that means cheering and encouraging my teammates, getting defensive stops, or scoring points, it doesn't matter. I just want to do anything I can do to help, and let my teammates know I'm there for them."
(You held Ball State to 2-of-15 on three-point shooting, and you have had some success defending the arc in recent games. What is the reason for that?)
"Goldsberry."
BGSU SENIOR Liz Honegger
"Coach Miller always talks about having a balanced attack. We got their two starting post players in foul trouble, but then they countered that and went with four small players. It was like a chess match; they went at us off the dribble, and it went back and forth. I think they might have won that battle in the first half. But, we just want a balance of inside and outside, and he talked at halftime about getting the ball inside a bit more."
BALL STATE HEAD COACH TRACY ROLLER
"Coming into this situation, we really felt like we had an opportunity at hand. We feel like we let one go, and it happened in the first half. We couldn't match their runs in the first half, and then we spent the whole rest of the game trying to come back from that. But, I'm really proud of my kids. We never stopped fighting."
"This was a great atmosphere; it was really what women's basketball is all about. Two teams battling possession by possession, and it was a lot of fun. I'm already looking forward to a possible matchup down the road."
(On Amber Flynn)
"Amber Flynn, in my opinion, is the Sixth Man (of the Year) in the league. What a great kid; she is such a heady kid, and always makes an immediate impact on the floor. We just couldn't stop her in the post."
(On BGSU junior point guard Kate Achter)
"In the second half, I turned to my assistant, Mike (Geary), and said, 'Kate's been kind of quiet.' And he said, 'There are six minutes left; this is her time.' And on something like three-straight possessions, she just went right in and scored. That's what she does. She is so solid. Our plan was to meet her at halfcourt and try not to let her get in front of you. I thought we did a good job of that in the first half, but in the last six or seven minutes, she did a great job of getting to the basket."
