YPSILANIT, Mich. - Senior Caroline Keating and sophomore Alisha Yee were named to the Mid-American Conference first team as the Falcons went on to close the MAC Champions in sixth place with 335 points. In the closing day, BGSU recorded eight top ten finishes. Three Falcons also recorded new personal best times.
In the field of eight, Eastern Michigan repeated as the MAC Champion with 665 points while Ohio (618) and Miami (596) closed the top three. Toledo (464.5) and Akron (381) remained ahead of BGSU in fourth and fifth, respectively. Ball State (308.5) and Buffalo (200) took seventh and eighth.
Yee, a first time All-MAC selection, swam to a new personal record of 2:03.86 in the 200-back. Yee touched the wall one-one hundredth of a second behind Ohio's Signal Simsolo. Simsolo earned the bronze as Yee finished in fourth. This was the second time this season Yee bested her own time in the sprint event. Senior Brit O'Conner also recorded her own top ten time as she finished ninth in 2:05.61.
Keating, previously a two-time second team All-MAC performer, finished the mile in 17:30.33 which was good enough for seventh place. Freshman Chelsea Lopus placed eight in the 200-fly while the 400-free relay team placed fifth finishing in 3:30.72.
Sophomore Sami Jordan and junior Jen Wright each sent new PR's in the 100-free. Jordan's time of 52.75 gave her eleventh place and her third new personal best of the tournament. Wright's 52.85 PR placed her thirteenth overall. Junior Kimberly Albin also earned a top fifteen finish with her time of 2:24.41 in the 200-breast.
This marks the first time two Bowling Green swimmers have been named simultaneously to the All-MAC first team.
