Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University football coach Gregg Brandon has announced that fifth-year assistant coach Troy Rothenbuhler has been promoted to assistant head coach. Rothenbuhler, a native of Oregon and a graduate of Clay High School, is the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator for the Falcons.
"Troy has provided our staff with outstanding leadership during his tenure and has been an invaluable asset to our program," said Brandon. "He is a tireless worker whose organizational skills are unmatched."
Rothenbuhler, a graduate of Ohio State, came to BGSU after serving as a graduate assistant with the Buckeyes and after working as an assistant coach at Arkansas State and Heidelberg. At BGSU, Rothenbuhler coached tight ends in 2003, 2005 and 2006. In 2004, he coached All-MAC defensive ends Mitchell Crossley and Devon Parks. In 2003, tight ends Craig Jarrett became the first Falcon football player in 10 years to earn Academic All-American honors.
"I'm thrilled about the opportunity and excited about the upcoming season," said Rothenbuhler. "It means a lot to me that Coach Brandon has thought enough of my contributions that he has rewarded me in this way."
