Track Hands Out Awards at End of Year Banquet

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The women's track team held their end of season awards banquets this past weekend where friends, family and alumni gathered to honor the accomplishments of the athletes and the successes of the season.
Four athletes were awarded the Most Improved award for their efforts during the indoor and outdoor season. Lauren Bryant improved in every throwing event both indoors and outdoors. Yemoja Marotta went from a 2:27.55 in the 800-meters to 2:15.44 to finish seventh at the indoor MAC Championships. Amanda Sefcik improved from 18-07.00 to 19-06.50 and it ranks her fourth in the MAC and second all time at BGSU. Kim Settle improved her mile time from 5:12 to 5:03 and finished eighth in the event at the indoor MAC championships and was a member of the All-Ohio Championship DMR team. She also improved her steeplechase time by 14 seconds to 10:51.04 and is ranked second in the MAC.
The Most Outstanding Performance went to Nicole Standback who ran a personal-best time of 8.45 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish second and ranks her second all-time at BGSU and seventh all-time in MAC history. She earned MAC second-team honors for her performance.
The Most Valuable Track Athlete award went to Jamie Roflow. She was the MAC Champion for the indoor 5,000-meter and finished fifth in the 3000m scoring a total of 14pts and leading all BGSU scorers at the indoor championship. She is currently leading the MAC in the 3000-meter steeplechase where she ran a regional qualifying time of 10:49.79 to win the All-Ohio steeplechase title. She won two All-Ohio titles indoor in the mile and as part of the DMR team.
The Most Valuable Field Athlete award went to TaKarra Dunning. She is the All-Ohio Champion in the indoor and outdoor shot put as well as a provisional NCAA qualifier in the shot put indoor, a regional qualifier in the shot put outdoor with a personal best of 50-02.75 which ranks her second in the conference and #second all-time at BGSU. She has scored 91points for the team during 2007 season.
Jessica White was given the Highest Point Scorer award where she has scored a total of 116.75 points during the season through the Hillsdale Relays, 25 more points than anyone else on the team. She has won two All-Ohio titles this season, in the 60-meter dash indoor and the 100-meter dash outdoor. She ranks second in the conference in the 100-meters and finished fourth in both the 60-meters and 200-meters in doors at the conference championships. She is also the school record holder in the 60-meter dash.
