BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University men's soccer coach Fred Thompson has announced the signing of an additional player to the program. Chris Jurtovski will join the Falcons for the 2007 season.
Jurtovski, a 5-11 midfielder, is a native of Toronto, Ontario, and comes to BGSU from Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute where he played for coaches Rob Pacas and George Kourtis.
"We are thrilled to have Chris in our program," said Thompson. "He is a very technical player with good mobility. It shouldn't take him long to adjust to the college game, and once he does, you can expect to see him heavily involved in our possession and our build-up play.
"Chris is also very responsible defensively, and has the fitness to maintain his work rate."
Jurtovski led Birchmount Park in goals as a senior, earning team MVP honors as the team finished second in the OFSAA (equivalent to state) championship. He also played club ball for the Olympic Flame Soccer Club under the direction of George Timitheou, helping that team to the Minnesota Cup finals in 2004, the Ontario Cup semifinals in 2005 and the Robbie Cup finals in '06.
Chris is the son of Mike and Caroline Jurtovski.
Jurtovski joins a recruiting class that includes Garrett Bireline, Ryan Davis, Matthew Klancic, Matthew Leugers, Thomas McLean, Sean Misick and Patrick Pavlik.
