Miller Strikes Out Career-High Nine For First Collegiate Win
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons got to work offensively in the bottom of the second with a quartet of tallies. Andrew DiLodovico led off the inning with a single into left before stealing second. A single from Zack Horky put runners at the corners. Griffin Scheiderer laid down a sacrifice bunt with the throw coming home late to score DiLodovico.
- Chase Chopin followed the run by being hit by a pitch to load the bases for the Orange and Brown. Vinny Salvione kept it going with a single into left field, bringing home both Horky and DiLodovico.
- Sam Seidel put a ball in play to move both runners up, setting up an RBI single off the bat of Lance Vickers into center that brought home Chopin for a 4-0 BGSU lead after two innings.
- The Falcons added a tally in the third inning with TJ Takats blasting a solo home run to right for a 5-0 advantage.
- Bowling Green tacked on more in the fourth frame. Salvione led off with a single into left center before stealing second. Seidel followed with a single through the right side of the infield, bringing home Salvione.
- Western Michigan got on the board in the top of the sixth, cutting the deficit to 6-5.
- BGSU answered in the bottom half of the sixth. Salvione sent a single up the middle into center field followed by a Seidel single into right to put two on. A sacrifice bunt from Vickers moved both runners up with a sacrifice fly to center off the bat of Anthony Mitta scoring Salvione for a 7-5 lead.
- Western Michigan threatened in the top of the seventh with two on and one out, but a diving catch in center by Chopin and a quick throw to second doubled up the Broncos to end the inning without damage.
