BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball standout Ali Mann is preparing to begin her professional career this fall. From time to time (as her schedule allows), Ali will check in with BGSUFalcons.com to provide updates on her travels, her playing career and anything else that might be on her mind ...
Hello to all of my fellow Falcon fans. I am at home in Michigan, but in a few weeks, I will begin my professional playing career overseas. I will be playing for AB Contern in Luxembourg. I signed the contract on my birthday (June 26th), and it binds me to 9 months in Luxembourg. As part of the contract, they will hook me up with an apartment, car and cell phone, along with a few other things.
We'll play all over Europe before getting into league play later in the season. I am the only American on the team (some sort of rule the league has) and will be playing with girls ages 17-27. I've been talking to the American that played for them last year, Evan Unrau from Missouri, and she has filled me in on all the things I should see and places I should go.
I leave August 27th and they fly me home for Christmas for a minimum of 8 days. Let me mention to Coach Miller and others that I think that is almost as much time as I got off in my 4 years at BG combined! ;)
I am looking forward to heading overseas and starting my professional career, and I will try to send a note from time to time, to keep you all updated on how my season is going. Thanks!
