BOWLINIG GREEN, Ohio - A pair of former Bowling Green State University baseball standouts met on the diamond Saturday (Aug. 25), with a flock of former Falcons in attendance.
On that date, the Washington DC/Baltimore/Virginia Alumni Chapter and Falcon Club Advisory Board member, Brock Bierman '86, hosted an event for area alumni at Prince George's Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. The event featured former Falcons Nolan Reimold and Burke Badenhop.
Reimold, a top prospect in the Baltimore Orioles organization, currently plays for the Bowie Baysox of the Eastern League (AA), while Badenhop pitches for the Erie Seawolves in the Detroit Tigers organization.
Nearly 60 alumni braved the 90-plus degree heat and thunderstorms to attend a pre-game dinner buffet and later watch Bowie host Erie at Prince George's Stadium. The highlight of the night for Falcon fans in attendance undoubtedly Badenhop pitching to Reimold to the chorus of 'Ay Ziggy Zoomba.' Badenhop got the better of Reimold, getting a swinging strikeout in the bottom of the second inning.
The game was postponed in the third inning, but the inclement weather did not dampen the spirits of the Falcon faithful. The Seawolves wound up winning the game, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 26).
