• 26-21-2 overall in the last two seasons (plus six games);

• 0-3-0 in Friday matches this season to date;
• 2-1-0 in Sunday contests so far in 2007;
• 1-9-1 against Michigan State, as the Spartans are the Falcons' most common non-conference opponent over the first 10-plus years of the program;
• 3-0-0 against Youngstown State, having outscored the Penguins by a combined 18-3 in those three matches;
• 0-0-0 in road games vs. the Penguins, as Sunday's match will be the first time the Falcons have ventured to Youngstown;
• 35-45-6 in the month of September through the years;
• 1-1-0 all-time in matches played on Sept. 21, with neither of those matches coming on the road (one home match - a 3-0 win over Wright State in 2003 - and one neutral-site contest - a 4-1 loss to Iowa State in the 2001 season); and
• 1-1-0 in contests on Sept. 23, including a 1-0-0 mark on the road on that date (a 3-1 win at Northern Illinois two years ago; the other Sept. 23 match was a 2-1 home OT loss to Buffalo in the 2001 season).
TOUGH CROWD
The Falcons have perennially played a challenging non-conference schedule, and this season is no exception ... Andy Richards and Company play six of the eight non-league matches away from home this fall ... five of the eight opponents are currently ranked regionally, according to Soccer Buzz, with two among the national top-20 ... this week (Sept. 17 poll), West Virginia is rated second in the Mid-Atlantic Region and 13th in the country ... four Falcon non-conference opponents are ranked in this week's Great Lakes Region top 15 ... that list includes Purdue (third in the region, 20th in the country), Kentucky (seventh), Michigan State (13th) and Wright State (14th).
LAST WEEKEND
The Falcons dropped two matches, falling to Wright State by a 2-1 count in overtime Friday (Sept. 14), then losing a 4-0 decision at nationally-ranked Purdue two days later ... freshman Jackie Tamerlano scored her first collegiate goal in the WSU match, with senior Tiernay Tilford drawing the assist ... on Sunday, redshirt freshman Alexa Arsenault made her collegiate debut in goal, making seven saves in her second-half stint.
ABOUT THE FALCONS
BGSU is 2-4 on the young season ... the Falcons have a 1-1 record at Cochrane Field and a 1-3 mark on the road to date ... BG is looking to step up the scoring, as the Falcons have four goals this season to date ... sophomore Stacey Lucas has two of those goals, and has figured in the scoring of three of BGSU's four tallies ... she has five points on the two goals and one assist, and is five-sixths of the way to matching her point total for all of last season ... sophomore Faith Juillerat and freshman Jackie Tamerlano each have one goal on the season, while senior Tiernay Tilford and freshman Meagan Moran have one assist apiece ... in net, junior Christy Zabek has started five matches, and has 16 saves and a team-leading 1.87 goals-against average ... redshirt freshman Alexa Arsenault made her collegiate debut Sunday (Sept. 16) at Purdue ... she played 45 minutes in that match, and has a 2.00 GAA and seven saves ... senior Tiffany Hansen has seven saves in her three matches played ... the Falcons returned 16 of 20 letterwinners, including nine starters, from a youthful 2006 squad that went 10-10-0 overall and 7-4-0 in MAC play ... the '06 Falcons tied for third in conference action ... the Brown and Orange advanced to the league tournament for the fifth consecutive year ... senior Danielle Cygan is the top returning scorer, having scored 10 points last season, while juniors Brianne Eisenhard and Corbie Yee had eight and seven points, respectively, in '06 ... all three players had three goals, including two game-winning goals, to tie for the team lead in both categories ... Hansen had a 5-8-0 record and a 1.74 GAA a year ago, while Zabek had a 5-2-0 mark and a MAC-leading 0.67 GAA.
HEAD COACH Andy Richards
Andy Richards is in his eighth season as a collegiate head coach, all with the Falcons ... he has guided the Brown and Orange to unprecedented heights during that time ... the 2005 MAC Coach of the Year, Richards currently has an overall record of 73-73-12, including a MAC Tournament mark of 8-4-3 ... upon his arrival in Northwest Ohio, he took over a team that had gone 19-34-4 in the previous three seasons ... last year, Richards guided the youthful Falcons to 10 overall wins and a tie for third place in the MAC standings ... that came on the heels of the '05 campaign, in which he led the Falcons to the first regular-season title in BG annals and a second-straight MAC Tournament crown ... Richards has led BGSU to the semifinal round of the league tourney on five occasions, to the championship match four times, and, in 2004, to the first league tourney title and NCAA Tournament berth in school history ... Richards and the Falcons repeated that feat in '05, as BGSU again won the MAC Tournament crown.
FIRST GOAL IS MIGHTY IMPORTANT
Soccer enthusiasts and brain surgeons know that, in technical terms, scoring the first goal of the match can be really important ... for the Falcons in recent years, however, scoring the opening goal has been really, REALLY important (sorry for all of the technical jargon) ... believe it or not, the team scoring the first goal has gone on to win in every BGSU match over the last two-plus years ... that streak now spans 46 matches (including two scoreless draws) ... not since Sept. 11, 2005, has a team scored first, but eventually lost the match ... on that date, the Falcons surrendered a goal at Northern Arizona before rallying for a 2-1 win ... in the ensuing 46 contests, 35 have been shutouts.
ARSENAULT MAKES HER DEBUT
Redshirt freshman Alexa Arsenault, as mentioned, made her collegiate debut in the Falcons' match at nationally-ranked Purdue on Sunday (Sept. 16) ... she made seven saves, a season-high for a BGSU goalie, despite playing only the second half of that match ... Arsenault has a saves percentage of 87.5%.
TAMERLANO FINDS THE SCORESHEET ...
Freshman Jackie Tamerlano scored her first collegiate goal on Friday (Sept. 14) in the Wright State contest ... Tamerlano's goal came with just 28 seconds left in the first half, and tied the match at 1-1.
... AFTER ZABEK SAVES A PK
Tamerlano's goal came less than a minute after junior Christy Zabek made a save on a Wright State penalty-kick attempt ... the save was Zabek's first stop of a PK in her collegiate career ... in the history of the Falcon program, BGSU is 12-for-15 on PK tries, while the opponents are now 8-of-12 (during matches only - does not include shootouts in MAC Tournament action).
THE END OF AN IMPRESSIVE STREAK
Friday's 2-1 loss to Wright State snapped an impressive streak for BGSU in overtime matches ... the Falcons now have an all-time record of 14-12-16 in overtime games ... BGSU is now 6-10-8 in home OT games, and Friday's loss snapped an unbeaten streak of seven overtime contests at Cochrane Field ... overall, BG had been undefeated in the last 10 OT matches prior to Friday ... the Falcons had gone 5-0-5 in extra sessions since a loss to Ohio State on Oct. 31, 2003, at Cochrane.
A FEW MORE FALCON NOTES
Senior Tiernay Tilford's short diagonal ball resulted in freshman Jackie Tamerlano's goal on Friday vs. Wright State ... for Tilford, the assist was her first point of the season, but the seventh assist of her BGSU career ... she is the team's active career leader in that category, one ahead of fellow senior captain Danielle Cygan ... Tilford's assist was the first point scored by a BGSU upperclassman this season to date ... all four of BG's goals, and two of the team's three assists, have come from players with either freshman or sophomore status ... senior Tiffany Hansen made her first start of the season in the Purdue match ... freshmen Sarah Haferkamp and Katie Stephenson each made the first start of their respective collegiate careers in that game ... 17 different players have made at least one start through the first six games of the season ... sophomore Samantha Bland has played a team-high 517 minutes this season to date.

MSU is 3-0-1 against the Falcons in games played at Old College Field ... last year, the Spartans picked up a 2-1 win at Cochrane Field (Sept. 15, 2006) ... BGSU's series win was a 3-2 overtime decision at home in 1999, while the tie came in 2001 in East Lansing.
The Falcons are 3-0-0 in the Youngstown State series, with all three previous meetings coming at Cochrane Field ... BG's wins include a 10-1 decision in 2001 (the most goals in a game in program history) and a 7-2 win in 1997, the Falcons' first season of varsity women's soccer ... the teams met last year at Cochrane, with the Falcons posting a 1-0 win (Sept. 8, 2006).

MY NAME IS LUCAS
Falcon sophomore Stacey Lucas scored two goals last season ... those goals came against this weekend's opponents, Michigan State and Youngstown State ... her goal vs. YSU was the game-winner in a 1-0 win over the Penguins (assisted by Danielle Cygan), and she also scored BG's only marker (off a Colleen Kordan assist) in a 2-1 loss to MSU ... Lucas has already matched her goal total of a year ago, with two goals in 2007 to date.
