BGSU Holds Second Home Meet of Young Season

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's track and field team hopes to carry the momentum from last week's second place finish into this week's BGSU Invite. The action kicks off at 5:00 p.m. this Friday inside the Perry Field House, as the Falcon's play host to IPFW, Ball State, Eastern Michigan and the University of Cincinnati.
Last week at the BGSU Women's Challenge the Falcon's had 27 of their athletes score points for the team, including six first place finishes and five, second and third place finishes. BGSU led the way in the mid-distance, throws and long jump.
Senior Lauren Bryant finished first place in the weight throw, while Junior Whitney Hartman helped the Falcons earn valuable points with a third place finish. After placing seventh in the weight TaKarra Dunning gained some momentum for this weekend with a first place finish in the shot put.
Freshman Brittani McNeal started her intercollegiate career with a bang, finishing first in the long jump while Senior Amanda Sefcik contributed to the Falcons 145 points with a third place finish.
The Falcon's excelled in the mid-distance events taking first place in both the 600 and 800-meter. In the 600 meter race Senior Lyndi Springer had a time of 1:36.75, while sophomore Carly Bates took home the top honors in the 800-meter with time of 2:21.19.
