Champion's Circle Spotlight

Steve and Rhonda Melchi were the first to step up and lend their support at the new Falcon Club giving level, Champion's Circle, when it was unveiled last spring. Since then, eight more members have joined the ranks at the highest level of giving within the Falcon Club.
Steve is a high school social studies teacher at Penta Career Center in Perrysburg,Ohio and Rhonda is treasurer of Bowling Green City Schools. They have been Falcon Club members for 25 years and are avid fans of many Falcon sport programs.
When asked why they joined Falcon Club?
We both work in education and feel strongly about the value of education. Being members of the of the Falcon Club allows us to contribute toward the education of student athletes who we watch on the playing field.
Why join Champions Circle?
We probably would never have made this level of commitment if we weren't so impressed with the staff and players in the athletic program. And we are talking about a lot more than just winning games. To us the winning has been the icing on the cake, but it has been the cake itself - the good people and the supportive family atmosphere - that has impressed us the most. Being "matched" with a student makes it even more personalized and rewarding. We are extremely pleased to be matched with Lindsey Goldsberry, a player on the Women's Basketball Team.
Words of encouragement to other Falcon Club members?
We have learned to appreciate the truly great things that student-athletes and coaches do to be supportive of the University and BG communities. We are sure many of you are close to coaches and players that we hardly know who are also doing great things on and off the playing fields, ice rinks and swimming pools. We encourage you to talk with Jane Myers about joining the Falcon Club, increasing your giving level or joining the Champions Circle!
