AKRON, Ohio - A few notes from Bowling Green's 37-33 road win over the Akron Zips.
· With the win the Falcons move into first-place in the MAC East Standings at 1-1. BGSU leads Akron (1-2), Buffalo (1-2), Ohio (1-2), Temple (1-3), Miami (0-2) and Kent State (0-3).
· The Falcons now hold a 10-7-1 all-time series advantage over the Zips.
· Since 2003 (Brandon era) the Falcons have 28 conference wins, most among the 13 conference members.
· BGSU posted season-bests in total (419) and rushing yards (175).
· For the third time in his career Tyler Sheehan led a fourth quarter comeback, helping the Falcons erase a 27-14 deficit to open the final stanza, and trailed 33-28 midway through the fourth quarter. Sheehan and the Falcons scored 23 points in the final 15 minutes of action.
· Tyler Sheehan opened the contest 8 for 8 and finished 26 of 41 for 239 yards and three touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown. He now has 35 career touchdowns responsible for.
· It was Sheehan's first three touchdown performance of the season and his first three touchdown performance since Nov. 23, 2007 (vs. Toledo).
· Senior Anthony Turner recorded his fourth career 100-yard rushing performance with 126 yards on 19 carries, his first 100-plus performance since the Falcons' 44-20 win over Akron on Nov. 2, 2007.
· Sheehan connected with Marques Parks for a 39-yard touchdown in the second quarter. It was Parks' seventh career touchdown.
· Following a UA touchdown with just under three minutes remaining in the first half, Kenny Lewis took the kickoff back for 62 yards to the Akron 33 yard line, nearly doubling his previous best of 38 yards.
· Senior Corey Partridge recorded touchdown receptions of eight and 21 yards for his first career multi-touchdown performance. Partridge finished the game with a team high seven receptions.
· Partridge also continued his march up the career reception lists, now ranking eighth all-time with 155 receptions, passing Kurt Gerling (152).
· Sheehan had a streak of 93 consecutive passes without an interception snapped midway through 3rd quarter when a pass bounced off the hands of Freddie Barnes into a UA defender.
· Sheehan brought the Falcons to within 27-21 with 13:04 to go in the game with his fourth rushing touchdown of the year and third in as many games.
· Two plays after the Sheehan touchdown Antonio Smith intercepted an errant Akron pass, returning it to the Zips' six yard line. Two plays after the interception Anthony Turner faked a handoff to Tyrone Pronty on a sweep to the right and completed a six-yard pass to Jimmy Scheidler for a touchdown. It was Scheidler's fifth touchdown of the year.
· The Sheehan and Scheidler scores were just 1:34 apart, giving the Orange and Brown their first lead, 28-27.
