Lauren Prochaska Named to Preseason All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball sophomore Lauren Prochaska has been selected to the Preseason All-Mid-American Conference Team. The announcement was made by the conference office Thursday morning (Oct. 16).
The Preseason All-MAC Teams are the result of voting by members of the MAC News Media Association, as well as the league's head women's basketball coaches.
Prochaska, one of just three sophomores named to the team, is joined on the East Division squad by Kara Murphy of Akron, Kent State's Anna Kowalska, Jenna Schone of Miami and Chandra Myers of Ohio.
The West Division squad includes Porchia Green and Emily Maggert of Ball State, Britni Houghton of Central Michigan, Ali Clifton of Toledo and Tiera DeLaHoussaye of Western Michigan.
Prochaska is coming off a season in which she earned MAC Freshman-of-the-Year honors. A native of Plain City, Ohio, she led a 26-win team in scoring in her first collegiate season, with 14.8 points per game. Prochaska, the first freshman in school history to score more than 500 points (502), also averaged a team-high 5.9 rebounds on the season. She was second on the team in steals and third in assists.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller finished with an overall record of 26-8 last season. BGSU went 13-3 in MAC play to win the league's regular-season title for the fourth consecutive year, and the Falcons advanced to the second round of the WNIT. Miller and his staff return nine letterwinners, including three starters, from that club.
The 2008-09 team begins official practices on Friday (Oct. 17), and fans will get their first chance to see the Falcons in action on Nov. 4, as BGSU plays Findlay in an exhibition game at Anderson Arena. The regular season begins on Friday., Nov. 14, at Temple, with the home opener slated for Saturday, Nov. 22, vs. Lipscomb.
