Were there any Surprises from EMU?
"Their efficiency. They took care of the football. We didn't help ourselves. We didn't create opportunities. I thought their quarterback did a good job for them."
What happened on the last scoring drive EMU?
"Well the coverage obviously was awful. We busted the coverage. It was a similar play that they hit us with in the first half on their boundary. It was a critical error at a huge time in the game. It was disappointing that that occurred. We really didn't do a good job getting pressure on him all day. And thats something with a four man rush that we got to be able to do. And if we don't then we have to bring extra guys and that makes it tougher to cover. We went in with the idea that we were going to get pressure with a four man rush and it just didn't happen."
Were you guys mentally ready?
Well, yeah. We talked all week. It's a MAC game. It doesn't matter whether you're playing Eastern Michigan who is 1-4 or Ball State who is 5-0. There is great parity in this league and we have to be ready to play week in and week out. And we stressed that and I have enough seniors that know that. We just didn't get it done today. They made one more play than we did, and we got to get ready for next week."
How would you assess your team's performance today?
"To be brutally honest, as a team we didn't perform and didn't play well. We left a lot of plays out on the field today and that's something that we don't want to do."
How does it feel losing the game tonight?
"It hurts. We've been up and down, and to win and then come back home and do this, it's mind boggling. We had fan support and could hear them during the game, we let them down. We have to figure it out because in the MAC everything is up in the air. Every week and every year someone is coming in to knock us off."
How hard was this loss?
"Obviously any loss is going to be real disappointing, especially during homecoming in front of a great crowd. In two straight home games we haven't executed very well and we know every MAC game is going to be hard. I don't think that we came out with a good enough focus to get it done."
Statistically, you had a good game how does that make you feel to lose?
"I think that offensively we played well. I can throw the ball as many times as I want, but if there is no one there to catch it, I can't do anything about it. I missed some things that could have won us the game. I'm going to have to go back and evaluate my performance and see what I can do to make our team better.

Is this the best win of your career?
"You know it is hard to quantify. Each one is pretty good. Beating Central Michigan three times in a row back-to-back at their place is pretty special. Beating Western Michigan. But obviously due to the fact that I am an alum here. I have been down here twice and lost very close games the last two years. It was nice to be able to spoil someone else's homecoming."
How did you feel the defensive line played today?
"We are playing 24 redshirt freshman on the team. Most of our defensive line is freshman except for Josh Hunt and Spencer Smith. They are getting better each week. The fact that we rotate our defensive line and get to seven or eight guys playing really helps them to have stamina in the fourth quarter to make a play..."
How did this big win help build momentum?
"First of all we are going to celebrate this win but we are worship the execution and the fact that we made some plays. I can't say enough about our coaching staff holding it together after a tough week after Northern Illinois."

"Is this the best game you have played since you have been here? "One of, if not the best. We had great protection all day. I barely got touched, I maybe got sacked once and I kind of got out of it a little bit. It was great protection the receivers made some plays."

How did you feel being the go-to guy today?
"It felt good. That coach has the confidence in me to make plays. "

How did you guys react to the screenplays?
"There were tips on the offensive line, but we that was what we wanted on the defensive line, upfront and as linebackers. That is what we wanted for them to go outside all the time because we just kept rotating guys and it kept us all fresh."

What does it feel like to have a strong game on offense?
"I think that we played up to our potential today. It has been something that we have been stressing. Since we have a couple of banged up quarterbacks. Up front we really want to keep those guys clean."
