Andrew Goetz's Interview with Minturn
The Bowling Green State University football team had a busy day with the media this afternoon (Nov. 10) following the 28-3 win over Ohio. Here are some of their thoughts.
Coach Gregg Brandon
On the offensive line
"They've held up pretty well. Our offensive production isn't where I think it should be right now, but I think it's a combination of things, not all the offensive line's fault. Injuries in the backfield, injuries at receiver, those things have factored into the fact that we're not. Point-wise, I think we're okay, but overall production wise, we're not what I'm used to."
On only two freshmen playing so far this year
"I think it's worked out well, particularly on the offensive line, we didn't have to play some of those young guys. And our linebackers, we've got good, young linebackers that we're redshirting. We've held up there pretty good, we haven't had a lot of injuries there. Those kids have played pretty well, so it's good to get through with just two."
On getting more playing time recently
"I've been fortunate. Everybody's been blocking really well, and I've been inserted into some situations where we've been able to get some success, and it's been nice."
On chemistry with two quarterbacks getting playing time
"Me and Tyler are very good friends. We've come to have a really good, strong relationship, and he's really helped my learning of the system, and he's been really welcoming with any questions that I've had for him."
On importance of getting back-to-back wins
"That was definitely big. It gives us a lot of momentum going into these last couple games and put us right where we need to be - still in the hunt."
On playoff mentality of team
"It's one game and you're out, so there's no room for error. Every game is as important as a playoff game."
On defense stepping up this week
"We'd rather have given up zero points, but we'll settle for three."
