Four Falcons Garner All-MAC Honors

TOLEDO, Ohio - As the 2008 Mid-American Conference Tournament gets underway in Toledo, Ohio four Falcons garnered All-MAC honors at the annual MAC Banquet tonight (Nov. 20). Senior Kendra Halm earned her third consecutive first team All-MAC honor. Fellow seniors Chelsey Meek and Meghan Mohr along with junior Corey Domek were all named second team All-MAC. Mohr and Domek both earned their second straight second team All-MAC selection.

Halm, a Bucyrus, Ohio native was once again a huge force at the net for the Falcons this season. She currently leads the Falcons and is third in the MAC with a .335 hitting percentage, including 22 matches of double-digit kills and 127 blocks averaging 1.02 per set. Halm is also ranked 85th in the nation in hitting percentage. In her senior campaign Halm recorded her 1,000 kill against Oakland (Oct. 9, 2008). She also set multiple BG records with a career high 14 blocks and 13 block assists against Florida A&M setting new records for blocks and block assists in a three set match. Halm has complied 439 career block assists setting a new career record in BG program history. This season she has earned three All-Tournament selections, including two MVPs along with a MAC East Player of the Week award.

Mohr, an Elida, Ohio native has been consistent all season for the Falcons. She is second on the team in kills with 369 and recorded a team high 10 double-doubles, including 20 matches of double-digit kill performances, 10 matches of double-digit dig performances and two matches with double-digit assists. Mohr is currently ranked 10th in MAC in conference play in kills with 189 averaging 3.05 per set and in service aces with 17 averaging .27 aces per set. This season she earned two All-Tournament honors.
Meek, a Bowling Green, Ohio native led the defensive attack for the Falcons the entire season. She leads the Falcons, is second in the MAC and 25th in the nation with 622 digs averaging 4.98 digs per game. Meek became the first Falcon ever to record 2,000 career digs as she picked up her 2,000th dig against Buffalo (Oct. 11, 2008). She has amassed 2,246 career digs only 27 digs shy of tying the all-time MAC record of 2,273. Meek has also set a new national record of 89 consecutive matches of 10-plus digs the most of any active player as well as all-time in the nation. As a senior she earned three All-Tournament selections, Academic All-District honors, a MAC Co-East Player of the Week award and a MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week award.

Domek, a Naperville, Illinois native continued her success from the last two seasons. She became the 15th Falcon to record 1,000 career kills as she terminated number 1,000 against Western Michigan (Nov. 1, 2008). Domek recorded 20 matches of 10-plus kills this season, including a career high 25 also against Western Michigan earning her MAC East Player of the Week. She is currently ranked fifth in the MAC in conference play in kills with 190 averaging 3.22 per set.
