Coach Brandon
On what happened
"They came out in a two minute offense and they did a nice job. They mixed some things up, moved the ball down the field, got in position, scored a touchdown, got the onside kick and did it again. They had our defense on our heels in those two drives and we needed to step up and get off the field and we weren't able to do that. We could have converted, I believe, it was the 3rd-and-4 before the field goal that might have ended the game right there."
On taking a knee at the end of regulation
"We thought about it but you know, you throw the ball up and they can make a play. I think it was smarter. Maybe it was conservative to just sit on it there. I think it was the right thing to do. You got to take care of the football in that situation and get a chance to win it in overtime. And we had a chance. " "We'll bounce back. We have too. We have a game in six days."
On the offensive shutdown in the fourth quarter
"When you control the clock like we did, we were solid on third down, we ran 80 plays and we did everything we could on an offensive and defensive standpoint to win the game. We just didn't make plays in the end. The onside kick, we get that, its over. If we handle the snap and kick the field goal, possibly it's over. We convert on the third-and-4 and possibly it's over. Again it's about finishing down the stretch which we haven't done a good job of that this season. We haven't finished off people when we've had leads in the fourth quarter."
On how tough the loss is to swallow
"The seniors were really dedicated to winning this game with the implications that were out there for us. Yeah it's tough. It's tough for those guys, they've put in four or five years and done a nice job with this program. It's a tough way to go out at home."
On what went wrong
"We just didn't finish. Some things didn't go our way. We just couldn't finish the job."
On sensing the momentum changing
"Offensively we felt that we were still in control. I didn't think that at any point we lost momentum offensively. As a team I could kind of feel the momentum shift, but there is going to be momentum shifts in any game you play in."
On whether it is mental or just coincidence the way they weren't able to close out the Eastern game, the Miami game, and now the Buffalo game
"In my eyes is a coincidence. It seems like we play good on all cylinders, then little things happen, and it just doesn't seem to go our way."
On how they responded to Buffalo picking up there offense
"We just didn't finish. It was obvious, we had chances to make plays and we didn't make them. I think the defense started to play a little passive when we had the lead. We weren't playing to win, we were playing not to lose.
On sensing the momentum shift
"There was definitely a momentum change. We've been having the problem of finishing this whole year. Buffalo is a team you can't let stay in the game. When we had the chance to put them away, you have to really put them away."
Coach Gill
On the win
"I've got to thank God, A favor was done here, there is no doubt about it. I'm proud of our players. This season has been outstanding. Our players have demonstrated what kind of chemistry we have, what kind of teamwork we have and the love that they have for everybody on this team. This is a great day for the University at Buffalo and the football program."
James Starks
On the game-winning touchdown run
"I wanted to protect the ball, I knew the line was going to block great. I tried to hit the hole and they made a great crease. I saw the touchdown and I didn't want to go down. It was open, the line made a great hole, body on body and I had a great crease to run through."
Drew Willy
On Buffalo's comeback in the fourth quarter
"We got some momentum going there, the offense did great, the offensive line did great, the receivers made plays. The defense had a huge stop, it was a total team victory."
On the offensive production in the fourth quarter
"We spread them out at the end. In the fourth quarter we went into our two-minute offense. Receivers made plays. Guys were getting open. A lot of big catches. A lot of big plays in the fourth quarter. Everybody played a little bit of a role in everything."
Naam Roosevelt
On his touchdown catch to force overtime
"We knew it was man-to-man. I'd tried to beat my guy inside. Drew found me I just wanted to catch it pretty much. I just didn't want to drop that ball."
Davont Wallace
On stopping BG in overtime on fourth down
"We just wanted to get a stop and get the offense the ball. We just had the mindset of stopping them."
