Beach and Falcons Ink Three Gymnasts

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University gymnastics head coach Kerrie Beach announced the signing of three student-athletes to national letters of intent. Monica Eaton (Kearney, Missouri), Sunny Marchand (Phelam, New Hampshire.) and Danielle Wishart (Bethesda, Maryland) will join the BGSU gymnastics team for the 2009-10 academic year.
"I am so excited about our future Falcons," said head coach Kerrie Beach. "The three athletes signing with us all bring potential to compete on every event. They are clearly one of the most talented classes to join BGSU gymnastics and they are all elated to be a part of the Falcon family."
Eaton is currently a senior at Kearney High School. She is also a member of the Great American Gymnastics Express club out of Blue Springs, Missouri. Eaton is a two-time back-to-back all-around top 40 finisher at the Junior Olympic National Championships with a 36th place finish in 2008 and a 34th place finish in 2007.
"Monica is an extremely talented athlete and wonderful student," said Beach. "Like our other signees, Monica has all-around potential however she will really shine on uneven bars. She is a fantastic addition to our program."
Marchand, is currently a senior at Lowell Catholic High School. She is also a member of the Yellow Jackets Gymnastics Club out of Middleton, Massachusetts. Marchand finished 14th all-round at the 2008 Region VI Level 10 Regional Championship and 40th all-round at the 2006 Junior Olympic National Championships.
"Sunny is so excited about joining the BGSU Gymnastics program," stated Beach. "She shows considerable all-around potential and she is particularly dynamic on floor exercise. We are thrilled she is joining our team."
Wishart, is currently a senior at the Academy of Holy Cross. She is also a member of the Capital Gymnastics club out of Burke, Virginia. Wishart tied for a third place finish on vault at the 2008 Junior Olympic National Championships and finished 32nd all-around.
"Danielle has a rare quality of both power and grace," said Beach. "While she certainly has potential to be an all-around standout, Danielle will quickly make her mark on vault for this program. She is a bright and worldly person and she will be an excellent addition to our program."
Beach and the Falcons will officially open the 2009 season on the road at Northern Illinois on Sunday, January 11th at 2:00 p.m. The Falcons will host their first home meet of the season in Anderson Arena against Ball State on Sunday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m.
