BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball fans get their first chance to see the Falcons in action Tuesday night (Nov. 4), and the price is more than right. The Falcons of eighth-year coach Curt Miller will meet the University of Findlay in the team's first exhibition game, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Anderson Arena, and admission is free to all fans.
Miller and his staff welcome back nine letterwinners from a year ago, including three starters. The list of returnees includes senior Lindsey Goldsberry; juniors Tara Breske, Laura Bugher and Sarah Clapper; and sophomores Chelsea Albert, Tracy Pontius, Lauren Prochaska, Jen Uhl and Kelly Zuercher.
Newcomers to the Falcons' active roster this season include junior Niki McCoy, who sat out last season after transferring from the University of Akron, as well as freshmen Maribeth Giese, Victoria McGowan and Jessica Slagle.
Tuesday's game, as mentioned, marks the Falcons' first exhibition of the 2008-09 campaign. BGSU plays a second exhibition game on Saturday (Nov. 8), facing the OGBR Legends in a 4:30 p.m. tip at 'The House That Roars.' The Falcons open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 14, at Temple, and the home regular-season schedule commences eight days later -- Saturday, Nov. 22 -- when Lipscomb comes to town.
Tuesday's exhibition is scheduled to be aired on WBGU-FM 88.1, the Falcons' flagship station for women's basketball. WBGU will air nearly all of BGSU's games once again this winter. And, as is the case for all home Falcon basketball games, live stats will be available on the web through the magic of Gametracker.
The Falcons finished the '07-08 season with an overall record of 26-8 and a Mid-American Conference ledger of 13-3. Miller and the Falcons won a MAC regular-season title for the fourth consecutive year, and BGSU also advanced to national postseason play for the fourth-straight March, advancing to the second round of the WNIT.
