BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University's basketball teams will be in action Saturday afternoon (Nov. 8), as the Falcons take the floor for an exhibition doubleheader at Anderson Arena. The BGSU men's team will face Ashland University in a 2:00 p.m. tipoff, while the Falcon women will meet the OGBR Legends at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free to all fans.
Saturday marks the first chance for fans to see the Falcon men's team in action against another opponent. Second-year head coach Louis Orr welcomes back all 10 players who earned letters last year, plus an additional letterwinner. The list of returnees includes seniors Darryl Clements, Nate Miller and Brian Moten; juniors Matt Karaffa, Marc Larson, Erik Marschall, Otis Polk and Ryan Sims; and sophomores Joe Jakubowski, Chris Knight and Cameron Madlock.
Newcomers to the Falcons' active roster this season include freshmen Darnell "Dee" Brown, A'uston Calhoun and Scott Thomas. A pair of transfers, juniors Darion Goins and Adrion Graves, will sit out the season per NCAA rules.
The Falcon women of eighth-year head coach Curt Miller have played one exhibition game, posting a 90-59 win over Findlay on Tuesday (Nov. 4). Saturday's game will see the Brown and Orange face a group of former collegiate standouts. Four players on the OGBR Legends' roster have WNBA experience. The Legends picked up a win over No. 22 Xavier on Tuesday night.
Both of Saturday's games will have live stats available on the web through the magic of Gametracker.
Following Saturday's exhibition, the Falcon men will prepare for the regular-season opener the following weekend. BGSU will play three games at the NABC Classic in Minneapolis, Minn., taking on Georgia State (Nov. 14), host Minnesota (Nov. 15) and Concordia-St. Paul (Nov. 16). The home opener is set for Thursday, Nov. 20, vs. Wayne State.
For the Falcon women, the regular season also opens on Nov. 14, as BGSU takes on Temple in the City of Brotherly Love. The women begin the home portion of the regular-season schedule on Saturday, Nov. 22, against Lipscomb.
