ATHENS, Ohio - A few notes from the 28-3 Falcon win over Ohio...
*The Falcons had their best defensive game of the season, allowing just 229 yards and three points. The Falcons' previous-best low was 278 yards at Northern Illinois and 16 points at Wyoming and NIU.
*The last time the Falcons did not allow a touchdown in a game was on Nov. 6, 2004 when the Orange and Brown shutout the Western Michigan Broncos 52-0.
*Continuing with the dominance of the BGSU defense, they allowed just 40 yards on the ground on 28 carries (1.4 avg.). The 40 yards allowed were 89 yards lower than the 129 they allowed at Pittsburgh (BGSU's previous low).
*After seeing his first action of the season on the offensive side of the ball last week versus Kent State, Jason Rice made his first career start at running back versus Ohio.
*Erique Dozier recorded his third career interception midway-way through the first quarter.
*Following the Dozier interception the Falcons drove 41 yards on seven plays, capped by an eight-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Sheehan to Jermiah Kelley. It was Kelley's first touchdown of the season.
*After rushing for a career-high 114 yards last weekend versus Kent State junior quarterback Tyler Sheehan had a much more modest day on the ground, rushing for 20 yards on 12 carries. He did have the second-longest run of his career, a 25-yard run midway through the second quarter.
*Quarterback Andrew Beam had six carries for 25 yards, but his biggest play of the day came on a 22-yard touchdown pass to fellow quarterback Tyler Sheehan. Not only was it Beam's first career pass, it was Sheehan's third career touchdown reception, after recording two receiving scores in 2007. The junior from Cincinnati, Ohio now has three career receptions (all TDs) for 71 yards.
*For the second time in as many weeks the BGSU defense held the opposition scoreless in the first half, holding the Bobcats to 81 total yards in the opening 30 minutes. Last weekend versus Kent State the Falcons roared out to a 28-0 halftime lead, holding the Golden Flashes to 129 total yards.
*Nine different Falcons caught passes in the first half of action, led by Chris Wright and Marques Parks, each recording three receptions.
*Beam continued to run the ball effectively in the second half, recording a two-yard score late in the third quarter to spot the Orange and Brown a 21-3 lead. It was Beam's second career rushing score.
*Two plays after the Beam score, John Haneline intercepted Boo Jackson at the OU 35-yard line and ran it back to the Bobcats' seven-yard line. Three plays later Sheehan found Marques Parks for a four-yard score to put the Falcons up 28-3. The touchdown was Sheehan's 50th career touchdown responsible for (39 passing, 8 rushing, 3 receiving).
*The Falcons' two third quarter touchdowns came just 1:54 apart.
*Jahmal Brown led all tacklers with 13 stops, including two for a loss.
*The Falcons had a season-high four sacks, led by senior Erique Dozier who had 1.5 quarterback takedowns.
