BGSU Freshman Wins Grand Prize in Inaugural Football Attendance Promotion
December 05, 2008 | Football
Freshman Anne Lyon was recently selected as the $500 Grand Prize Winner in the inaugural ROLL ALONG! Ca$h Giveaway (presented by BGSU Athletics). The season-long BGSU Student incentive initiative awarded $100 to one lucky BGSU Student in attendance at each of the first four home games of the season, and those that attended all five games were eligible for the $500 Grand Prize.
Lyon, a Freshman Criminal Justice Major who is also in the Honors Program at BGSU, hails from Olmsted Falls, Ohio just west of Cleveland. Prior to each home game during the 2008 BGSU Football Season, she would round-up a group of fellow BGSU Students from her Residence Hall and make the trek by foot out to The Doyt.
"I'll use some for Christmas shopping and likely put the rest towards school," replied Lyon when asked what she would do with the prize money.
The ROLL ALONG! Ca$h Giveaway was created heading into the 2008 BGSU Football Season as a student-specific incentive initiative to encourage attendance of home games. Following each game, one student was selected at random from an event attendance report and awarded $100, courtesy of BGSU Athletics. For the $500 Grand Prize, the winner was selected at random from a report listing the eligible pool of students that had attended all five home games. According to Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Brian Delehoy, the initiative will likely be in place once again for the 2009 season during which BGSU will play host to six home games.
