Swimming and Diving Prepare for MAC Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Falcons will travel to Buffalo, New York for the Mid-American Conference Championships which are scheduled for February 20-23. The Falcons are 0-7 in conference duel meets this season, but have had numerous strong individual performances. Fourteen Falcons have scored in the top three of at least two solo events during the year. Junior Alisha Yee leads the team with 18 top three times. Yee is followed by fellow junior Sami Jordan and co-captain Kim Albin who both have ten top three touches. Freshman Carrie Enright (9) and sophomore Frankie Houck (7) round out the top five Falcon scorers, respectively.
Top Five Falcon Scorers:
Yee leads the Orange and Brown with 18 top three finishes, including 16 victories...she has dominated in the 100 back going a perfect 6-0 in MAC competition...she has won at least one event in every duel meet and has taken two or more events in five of those meets...the junior also posted a seventh place finish in the 200 IM at the Ohio State Invitational... Jordan has swam to ten top three touches this year, with one win in the 200 free against Akron...she adds three second place finishes and six third place nods...Co-captain Kim Albin also placed in the top three, ten times throughout the season...she has totaled three runner-up finishes and touched the wall third seven times in her senior campaign...Enright has had a breakout freshman campaign totaling nine top three touches...she compiles six second and three third place times in the free events...Houck rounds out the top five with seven solo top three times...she has won the 50 free against both Miami and Ohio...against Miami she also picked up a victory in the 100 free...she has four third place finishes to go along with her three victories this year.
Fantastic Freshmen:
The four freshmen have each contributed to the Falcons success this season. Sarah Burston leads the quartet with two victories for the year...she won the 200 fly against Toledo and the 200 IM at Buffalo...Liz Harper picked up the win in the 200 fly against Buffalo and has another top three finish on the year...Chelsea Kazmierski has two top three finishes, both against Akron in the 1000 and 500 free. Enright has nine total top three times, including six runner-up finishes.
Team Jill:
Senior Jill Auer, the lone diver on the squad has produced seven top three scores on the year...her highest score came against Buffalo as she scored a 273.25 in the 3 meter competition...her score placed her in the runner-up spot...she has an additional second place finish against Ohio in the same event... the senior has five third place scores on the year as well.
Current MAC Medal Winners:
Under head coach Keri Buff, eight current Falcons have medaled at previous MAC Championships...most recently, Yee, Meg Richardson, and Houck earned their first MAC medal as they won the bronze in the 200 IM relay last year...Michael Carriaga added to her collection with that bronze last year, as she had previously earned an individual medal...in addition, seniors Jen Wright, Brit O'Connor and Lisa Hipp have medals from relay events...junior Sami Jordan has also received a MAC medal for a solo event.
