Yee Named First Team All-MAC, Carriaga to the Second Team

BUFFALO, New York - Junior Alisha Yee was chosen as a part of the Mid-American Conference First team and Senior Michael Carriaga was named to the second team as the Falcons completed the MAC Championships Saturday Night. Bowling Green finished in sixth place earning 333.5 total points. In the final day, the Falcons recorded five top fifteen finishes including one additional MAC medal.
Ohio won the four day event with a total score of 679.5. Behind the Bobcats was Toledo (605.5) and defending champion Eastern Michigan (575). Miami (538) and Buffalo (341) rounded out the top five, respectively. BGSU narrowly missed a top five finish by 7.5 points. Behind the Falcons was Akron (246) in seventh and Ball State (175.5) in eighth.
Yee, a second time All-MAC selection, capped of her MAC championship performance with a runner-up finish in the 200 back while setting another personal best. She captured her third MAC medal with a 2:00.71 time in the event. Yee's previous MAC individual medals came as she placed second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 back. She also set a new MAC, MAC meet, and Buffalo pool record in the preliminaries of the latter event. The junior set new personal bests in all three events this weekend.
Sami Jordan scored in the 200 back as well for BGSU with a top ten finish. Her time of 2:03.02 secured her ninth place and nine points for the Falcons.
The 200 fly produced three top fifteen marks for the Orange and Brown. Freshman Sarah Burston was the highest Falcon scorer with a 2:04.20 time and a fifth place finish. Fellow freshman Liz Harper placed seventh while setting a personal best time of 2:04.79 in her first MAC meet. Senior co-captain Michael Carriaga, who was named to the All-MAC second team, rounded out the Falcon points in the event with eleventh place and a time of 2:07.30.
Senior diver Jill Auer contributed to the Falcon scoring as she placed 12th in the 3-meter diving competition. She totaled 234 points. BGSU also picked up a sixth place finish in the 400 free relay in 3:29.43.
In all, there were 11 MAC, 13 meet and 16 UB pool records set.
