Falcons to Meet Golden Flashes In Quarterfinal Game

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Falcons have learned they will meet the Kent State Golden Flashes in the first game of the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The MAC East opponents will meet for the third time this season on Tuesday, Mar. 8 at 8:00 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena.

Bowling Green has come to call Quicken Loans Arena home winning nine of their last ten games in the Cleveland Cavilers home building ... BGSU has not lost in downtown Cleveland since 2004 (2004 MAC Championship) ... in fact, they have advanced past the quarterfinal round in each of the last four seasons ... 2003 marked the last time BGSU went `one-and-done' after being defeated by Eastern Michigan, 66-54, in the first round of the tournament ... in 23 complete seasons, BGSU h as played in 17 quarterfinal games and have made it to the semifinals 15 times.
How They Got Here
Bowling Green (East #1): After winning the MAC East, BGSU was awarded a first round bye ... in their 24th MAC Tournament appearance, Bowling Green will carry a 33-14 tournament record, as well as a 24-6 overall season record into the game.
Kent State (East #5): Beat Northern Illinois (West #4) in the opening round of MAC Tournament 75-67 on Monday, Mar. 10 ... in their 24th MAC Tournament appearance, Kent State will bring a 33-17 tournament record as well as a 10-20 overall season record to the match-up.
Tournament History
Bowling Green holds a 5-2 advantage over the Golden Flashes in the MAC Tournament ... they have not lost at the hands of KSU since 1992 ... in that semifinal game, a 106-103 (2OT) outcome, the teams set five tournament records including most total points in a game (209) ... it is the only tournament game to reach 200-plus points ... in their only other loss, Bowling Green fell 70-68 one decade earlier (1982) ... the match-up was Bowling Green's first ever MAC Tournament game played ... in their last two meetings, BGSU beat KSU in the championship game in 2005 (81-75) and the following season in 2006 (64-39) ... Kent State was allotted only 13 points in the first half in their last contest against the Falcons ... the 2006 point total is the third lowest on the MAC Tournament record list ... Toledo is the only opponent to face BGSU more times in the tournament than KSU ... that count runs 9-7.

Bowling Green and Kent State have met 66 previous times with BGSU taking a win in 39 of those contests ... since the arrival of head coach Curt Miller, the Falcons have a record of 8-5 ... those eight repetitive wins date back to the 2005 MAC Championship ... this season, BGSU first met KSU on Jan. 16 and took that meeting at the M.A.C Center, 90-64 ... later in the season, BGSU garnered their second win, a 76-68 decision on Feb. 20 inside of Anderson Arena.
