
Baseball Falls 15-5 To Broncos in Opening Game In Florida

Bradenton, Fla. - The Bowling Green State University baseball team opened its' Spring Break trip to Bradenton, Fla. on Saturday, falling 15-5 to Western Michigan at the IMG Academy. The win improved the Broncos to 4-1 on the season, while the Falcons dropped to 1-3.
The Falcons were led offensively by designated hitter Brandon McFarland and right fielder Mark Galvin as the two combined for three of the Falcons' nine hits and all four RBI. McFarland went 1-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and three RBI, while Galvin finished 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
WMU out-hit the Falcons 21-9 on the day as Nick Cantrell (0-2) was saddled with his second loss of the season. The right-hander threw 3.1 innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts.
Also seeing time on the mound for the Falcons were Brett Browning and Charles Wooten. Browning gave up six runs on five hits in 1.2 innings of duty, before giving way to Wooten who toed the rubber for the final four innings. He allowed three runs on six hits, recording two strikeouts.
BG returned to action on Sunday where they fell 11-8 to Northeastern to drop to 1-4 on the young season. They will once again square off with the Huskies on Monday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
