Falcons Look to Leave their Mark at MACs

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - On Saturday the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will travel to Kent, Ohio to compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships. The meet will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the Falcons will open the meet up on Bars. The Orange and Brown ended the season in fourth place with a MAC record of 3-3 and an overall record of 9-12. The host school Kent State claimed the title of MAC regular season champions at 6-0 in the MAC and 11-3 overall.
Saying Goodbye to the Seniors
Last week BGSU lost in their last home meet to Kentucky 191.375-195.400. The team celebrated senior night as they said goodbye to Jacque Bernhardt, Ashlee deLeeuw, Jholeen Ponce, Marissa Saneholtz and Candice Deacon.
Sophomore Breanne Guy posted her second best all-around score on the season at 38.875, she also claimed the top score for her team on every event. Her best came on vault where she hit a 9.775. On floor she scored a 9.750, beam 9.700 and bars 9.650.
As a team the Falcons improved their overall bars score to a 47.875.
MAC Championships History
Last year the Falcons finished 7th out of seven with a team score of 191.925, which was their third highest score on the season. The last time BGSU finished 3rd or higher came back in the 1987-88 season when then finished third. While head coach Kerrie Beach has been here the team has finished 4th three times and 7th once.
Wrapping up the Season
After the meet ends on Saturday the team will sit and wait till Sunday where it will be announced if the team or any individual gymnast will make it to Regionals.
