Hrusovsky Named to Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowliing Green State University senior Carley Hrusovsky has been named to the Academic All-MAC squad, which was announced by the Mid-American Conference office this afternoon (May. 21). It is the second time in Hrusovsky's career that she has received this honor.
This past season the North Canton, Ohio native finished second on the team with an 80.43 stroke average, her best season average of her career. She won her first career tournament at the 2008 Falcon Invitational with a score of 233, matching her classmate, Jessica McCann, for medalist honors.
The senior also earned a post-graduate scholarship earlier this season given to 13 women athletes in the country. The award goes to women that plan to have a career in college athletics following graduation.
Hrusovsky maintains a 3.94 grade-point average, while majoring in sports management.

CLEVELAND -- The Mid-American Conference announced its 2008 Women's Golf Academic All-MAC team Wednesday, as voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions. A total of eight stu¬dent-athletes were named to the team. The number of honorees on the MAC All-Academic Team are the number that is set for the specific sport or 33% of the number of nominees, whichever is greater.
Leading the team was Golfer of the Year Kira Meixner of Kent State who is a three time Academic All-MAC honoree. Teammate Maddie Swaney was named to the team for the second consecutive season. No. 13 Kent State's season came to a disappointing end as the Golden Flashes struggled to a final round 315 (+27) en route to finishing 14th at the NCAA Central Regional.
Eastern Michigan's Stephany Fleet was named to the team for the second season after also being named to the All-MAC second-team, while All-Tournament selection Joanna Periversoff (Toledo) and Carley Hrusovsky (Bowling Green) also received Academic All-MAC recognition.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
