BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Wood County Hospital and Bowling Green State University today announced that the Hospital has donated a C-Arm FluoroScan x-ray unit to the BGSU department of athletics. The unit, worth nearly $15,000, will be housed in the athletic training room at the Sebo Athletic Center.
"We appreciate this kind gesture by Wood County Hospital," said Greg Christopher, BGSU Assistant Vice President/Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. "The hospital is a valued partner to the BGSU department of athletics, and they are making a difference. This will aid the treatment of our nearly 425 student-athletes."
The gift continues the ongoing relationship between two of the city of Bowling Green's largest employers.
"The C-Arm FluoroScan unit is just one more way that Wood County Hospital has shown its sincere interest in helping Bowling Green State University's student-athletes succeed," said BGSU Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer Doug Boersma.
"Our sports medicine team is excited about having a unit like this for a number of reasons. The most important reason, of course, is the safety of our student-athletes. The gracious donation of this C-Arm unit will help our sports medicine team physicians make on-site `return to play' decisions with more confidence."
This announcement comes on the heels of the recent expansion of Wood County Hospital's sponsorship to include the naming rights to the Stadium Club at Doyt Perry Stadium.
"Wood County Hospital and its Medical Staff have a long standing commitment to providing quality cost effective care to the students and staff of Bowling Green State University," said Stanley Korducki, President of Wood County Hospital. "Our delivery of sports medicine services to athletes is one example. We are pleased with the collaborative relationship established with the Department of Athletics, as well as with other departments of BGSU."
