BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University football team took the field for the first time in 2008 at 6 p.m. on Monday night inside Doyt L. Perry Stadium. Music from the movie "Rocky" played as the team rushed the field. The Falcons have just 26 days until they square off with the Pittsburgh Panthers to kickoff to '08 campaign.
Just a few minutes into practice the Falcons worked on special team drills as they took turns racing down the field. On several occasions senior kicker Sinisa Vrvilo booted his fair share through the back of the endzone.
Junior quarterbacks Andrew Beam and Tyler Sheehan took turns throwing to wide receivers in some one-on-one drills versus the defensive backs. Jermiah Kelley, Corey Partridge, Freddie Barnes, Tyrone Pronty, Adrian Hodges, Anthony Turner, Ray Hutson and Marques Parks all had at least one reception that resulted in a 40-yard plus play.
Defensively Kenny Lewis and Calvin Marshall each recorded interceptions in seven-on-seven drills.
Practice ended with Vrvilo drilling a 54-yard field goal that looked to have five yards to spare over the cross bar.
