ALLENDALE, Mich. -
The Bowling Green State University women's golf team carded a 298 on the final day of competition at the Laker Fall Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State. The Falcons, who finished sixth in the 14-team field, established a new BGSU low for 18 holes of action on Tuesday, smashing the old record by four strokes.
The previous-best was established in 2005, when the Falcons fired a 302 at the YSU Invitational.
All four of the Falcons' counted scores were in the 70's on the record day. Sophomore Megan Bader fired a career-low 71 on Tuesday afternoon. The 71 was one shot shy of the school record, set by Ingrid Lundblad in 1987.
Megan Gormley (74), Lauren Glew (75), and Marisa Glew (78) rounded out the top four Falcon rounds en route to the new BGSU record.
Overall Gormley carded a 157 (83-74) to finish in 18th place. She was followed by Lauren Glew (83-75--158, 21st), Bader (88-71--159, 23rd), Marisa Glew (87-78--165, 35th) and Paula Defrancesco (87-88--67th). Hannah Lambert carded a 171 (85-86) as an individual as well.
A total of 85 golfers competed.
Up next for the Orange and Brown is a trip to Penn State, where they will compete in the Nittany Lion Invitational on Sept. 13-14.
