Senior Libby Harrison, junior Katia Babina and sophomore Christine Chiricosta all went 2-0 in singles action on Saturday, and all three will play for the title on Sunday. Additionally, Babina teamed with classmate Samantha Kintzel for a doubles win, while Harrison did the same with senior Stefanie Menoff.
No team scores are kept at the nine-team, two-day invitational, but flight champions in each of eight singles flights and four doubles brackets will be crowned.
In addition to the Falcons, other teams in the tourney include Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Detroit, Eastern Illinois, IUPUI, Xavier and Youngstown State.
Chiricosta, competing at the second flight, won her opening singles match in straight sets, then rallied from behind to defeat UA's Anna Baronayte in three sets in the semifinal round. She will meet Youngstown's Anna Volkova in Sunday's championship round.
At the fourth flight, Babina won each of her two matches in straight sets, losing a total of just eight games in her four sets while dispatching of foes from Detroit and EIU. Babina will meet Akron's Carolina Castro Cota on Sunday.
Harrison won a pair of matches at the fifth flight, with straight-set victories against YSU's Irena Lanc and UDM's Sophie Sjoberg-Sundstrom. Harrison will face CSU's Myra Pepino in the final at her flight.
The other three Falcon singles competitors, senior Kelsey Jakupcin (flight #1), Kintzel (flight #3) and Menoff (flight #6), each split their two Saturady matches.
The BGSU Invitational, as mentioned, concludes on Sunday, with matches beginning at 9:00 a.m. Complete brackets through Saturday's action can be found in the PDF document at the top of the page, while BGSU's results are below.
