Prochaska was named to the third team, while Pontius received honorable mention. For the list, Full Court Press broadly defines the term 'mid-major' to include all NCAA Division I schools outside of the six major conferences.
Prochaska and Pontius were the only two Mid-American Conference players to be listed.
Prochaska and Pontius have been very highly-decorated players in their first two seasons on Curt Miller's team. Prochaska, a wing, was the 2009 MAC Player of the Year, while Pontius, a point guard, joined her on the All-MAC First-Team in 2008-09.
Prochaska led the Falcons in both scoring and rebounding last season, with 17.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest. She made 75 three-point field goals, the third-highest total in school history, and shot 40.3 percent from long range. Prochaska led the entire nation in free-throw percentage, with a 93.3% success rate from the stripe. The 2007-08 MAC Freshman of the Year, she has scored 1,090 points in her first two seasons.
Pontius, as mentioned, joined Prochaska on the All-MAC First Team a year ago. In her first season as a starter, she was an honorable-mention choice to the Associated Press All-America Team. Pontius was one of just two players to be ranked in the MAC's top 10 in both scoring and assists, with 14.8 points and a team leading 4.1 assists per game. She hit a team-leading 77 three-pointers, the second-highest total in school history, and shot 43.0% from long distance.
The juniors are two of the 10 returning letterwinners for Miller and his staff, who also add a pair of NCAA Division-I transfers and four freshmen to the active roster for the 2009-10 season.
The first chance for Falcon fans to see their team in action will be Wednesday, Nov. 4, when BG hosts Findlay in the lone exhibition of 2009-10. The regular season begins nine days later with a home game against Chicago State in the first round of the WNIT.
