FINAL RESULTS
In the first tournament of her career at Bowling Green State University, freshman Amy Ruthenberg finished tenth at the All-Ohio Invitational and helped the Falcons close out the fall portion of their 2009-10 schedule on a solid note.
On the par-71, 6,039-yard Scarlet Course of the Ohio State University Golf Club, Ruthenberg improved on her first round 86 by posting a second round 83 for a tournament total of 169.
Ruthenberg was joined in a five-way tie for tenth place by freshman standout Susannah Grunden. Grunden posted a second-round score of 80, which was the tournament-best score by a Falcon. The score of 80, coupled with her 89 in the first round, helped Grunden tie Ruthenberg at 169.
Senior Hannah Lambert closed out her fall campaign with a solid day two score of 83. Lambert carded a 170 for the tournament, finishing one shot behind Grunden and Ruthenberg in 15th place.
The third member of the 2009-10 freshman class, Jennifer Blanchard, joined her three teammates in posting improved second round scores. Blanchard shot an 87 for today's 18 holes.
Ohio State's Vicky Villanueva won the tournament by eight strokes over fellow Buckeye Nara Shin. Ohio State players accounted for each of the tourney's top four spots.
The 36-hole tournament did not include team play, as only four schools (Bowling Green, Dayton, Ohio State, Ohio University) participated.
The Orange and Brown will now take just over four months off before resuming their season in the spring. The Falcons will have a five-tournament schedule in the spring, beginning with the Rio Verde Invitational, to be held March 5th through 7th in Rio Verde, Arizona.
Bowling Green will also play in the Longaberger Spring Challenge Cup in Nashport, Ohio (4/6/2010), the EKU Lady Colonel Classic in Richmond, Kentucky (4/10-4/11/2010).
The Falcons host the Falcon Invitational on 4/17-4/18/2010, and then conclude the 2009-10 season at the MAC Championships in Fishers, Indiana from 4/23-4/25/2010.
