Wright State Shuts Down Falcons, 2-0

Braden Fleak scored a goal in each half, giving host Wright State University a 2-0 win over the Bowling Green State University men's soccer team Wednesday night (Oct. 28). The non-conference match was held at WSU's Alumni Field.

With the win, the Raiders improve to 5-9-1 on the season, while the Falcons drop to 2-10-3.
Fleak opened the scoring 21:08 into the match, then added an insurance marker with exactly five minutes left in the contest.
"We have been making some good progress over the last few games," said BGSU head coach Eric Nichols. "Tonight, we took a night off. We just didn't show up. I know the guys are disappointed in their performance tonight."
The Raiders had a 15-11 advantage in total shot attempts, and Wright State had six shots on goal to the Falcons' three. Individually, Fleak and Brian Cothern each had four shots for the hosts.
For the Falcons, sophomore Byard Ebling had a team-high three shots, ringing one of those shots off the goalpost late in the first half.
Two WSU goalkeepers played one half each to share the shutout. Matt Koewler started the match, making one save, while Corey Whisenhunt played the final 45 minutes and had two stops on the evening.
Falcon freshman Dylan Schoettley played the entire 90 minutes in goal, and made a total of four saves.
BGSU will return to
"Now, the key for us is to regroup and get focused for Northern Illinois on Saturday," said Nichols. "It is a very important conference game, and we are going to need to be ready to go."
