Meg Richardson Named MAC Swimmer of the Week

Bowling Green, Ohio—Bowling Green State University senior Meg Richardson was named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 8).
Richardson, a native of Springfield, Ohio (Springfield High School) is the captain of the Falcon squad for the second year in a row.
This past weekend (Dec. 3-5), Richardson led her team to a second place finish at the Calvin Winter Invitational. In the win, Richardson broke one BGSU school record, two individual pool records and assisted four Falcon relays in setting new pool records
On the second day of the invitational, Richardson set a new BGSU record in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a first-place time of 23.31. Her time in the 50 free also set a new pool record at Venema Aquatic Center. Richardson had two more individual first-place showings, in both the 100-yard freestyle (50.89) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.34). Both of these times set new pool records and both are currently Richardson's personal best times of the 2009-10 season. All three of her times in individual events are currently the fastest times in the MAC, to-date.
Richardson was also successful in her relay efforts, assisting the Falcons to four first-place finishes. Richardson aided the Falcons in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard medley relay.
Throughout the course of the competition, Richardson broke one school record, set three individual pool records and assisted in breaking four relay pool records.
